Profile Editing Instructions for Faculty
Beginning with the 2011-2012 academic year, social sciences faculty and graduate students will have access to a new
profile system developed in house by social sciences computing services. Faculty and graduate students will be able to

department sites:

Email address
Link to CV
Link to personal web site
Single page bio (select research publications, etc; availability depends on departmental policy)
Photo (added centrally, not by individual)
Graduate Students
Name
Title
Program entry year
Research interests
Advisor
Building and office room number
Phone number
Email address
Link to CV
Link to personal web site
Miscellaneous / supplemental info (availability depends on departmental policy
Single page bio (select research publications, etc; availability depends on departmental policy)
Photo (added centrally, not by individual)
The faculty/graduate students’ home department decides on which information above will be displayed on each
department site. Economics has selected to display the following:
Please note that this system is not a replacement for the UCI Faculty Profiles nor is it connected to this information; rather it is a way for the school and departments to be able to display auto-generated faculty lists and one-page bios that may be updated by individual faculty members and students.
How to Update Profile Information
Individual faculty members will have access to update the above information by logging into the social sciences portal as described in the following instructions:
1. Use your UCInetID to log into the school's web portal: https://myapps.ss.uci.edu.
2. After logging in, you will see various applications (depending on departmental duties).
Click on “View/Modify My Contact Info” as shown in the screen shot:
3. You will then see 4 choices:
To enter or update your profile information, select the desired area to update.
Choice #1 is where you may change your contact information (email, office and phone) and it is also where you may provide a link to your personal web page. If you do not currently have a personal website, please contact Heather Wuebker to learn about faculty web options. Many economics faculty are currently using www.socsci.uci.edu/~ucinetid sites. Future site development will be encouraged using the new social sciences bio page option (for those faculty wanting only a single webpage) or the www.faculty.sites.uci.edu application (for those faculty interested in creating a multi-page site).
Choice #2 is where you will enter or update:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Ph.D. Information
- Research Interests
Choice #3 will show you a screenshot of the current photo that is displaying on your profile/bio page. If no photo appears here, this means there is no photo on file for you and a default UCI logo will be used in place of your personal photo. To have a new photo uploaded, please send the high resolution version to Heather Wuebker, hwuebker@uci.edu or Sarah Apke, smpake@uci.edu.
Choice #4 is where you will enter your CV. You may either:
- Upload a local copy to the school’s server and a link will be generated for you, OR
- Enter a URL to a copy already on the web or in your public_html user folder if you have one (in either case this is called a “Remote” CV).
If you choose the first option (creating a local copy), you will need to upload a new local copy each time you make changes to your CV.
If you choose the second “Remote” option, your CV can be edited where it is located, but be certain the CV file name remains the same. This method avoids repeated uploading since the hyperlink on your webpage will not need to be changed if the file name stays the same. Assuming you save the CV in your public_html subfolder, the file path that you would enter in the URL field is:
http://www.socsci.uci.edu/~ucinetid/bio/cv_file_name.pdf EX: http://www.socsci.uci.edu/~hwuebker/bio/wuebker_cv.pdf
