Printing to Canon Copier from Mac
Note about VPN
You must use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN to connect to the campus network in order to print unless you are using a physical ethernet connection in an on-campus office. Even the UCInet Mobile WiFi requires VPN for printing.
Install Print Driver on Mac
- Download and install the recommended Canon print driver here: here
- Check here for IP address and copier model
- Open Printers & Scanners, click on the IP tab. Enter the IP address for the copier in the Address field
- Click on the drop down menu next to Use and choose Select Software…
- Search the drivers for “canon ir-adv xx” where xx is the first two digits of the copier model number. Scroll to find the PS driver that matches your model closest. Some drivers are combo, so searching the full model number may not give you a result.
- Change the name to something meaningful and click Add.
- If you have installed a prior version of the printer driver, after installing the new version of the printer driver, delete and reinstall the printer in [Print & Fax] or [Print & Scan] of [System Preferences].
Enter Copy Code
- Open Printers & Scanners, select the copier, and click on Options & Supplies
- Click on the Options tab and check the box for Department ID Management
- Click on the Utility Tab and click on Open Printer Utility
- Under the User Management drop down, select Department ID Management
- Enter in your copy code in the Department ID field.
- Click Save Settings and close the dialog. Close the Options & Supplies and Printers & Scanners windows as well.
