Xerox Printing - From a Linux system
NOTE: Please make sure you have contacted
Craig Stone to get a print/copy code. You will need to enter your code during the setup below.
Setup involves three steps, detailed below
Note that if you are on the "UCInet Mobile Access" wireless network, you must use the VPN software before attempting to connect to the printer.
1) Download and install Xerox Driver
Depending on your system type, install the package with:
dpkg -i xeroxv5pkg-linuxx86_64-5.15.551.3245.deb
or
rpm -ivh xeroxv5pkg-linuxx86_64-5.15.551.3245.rpm
2) Run 'xeroxprtmgr' as root
1. Run "''sudo xeroxprtmgr''"
The program should be installed in /usr/bin/
and automatically in your PATH. Open your Terminal and run:
sudo xeroxprtmgr
to start the configuration program
2. Click on the icon for "Discovered Printers"
3. Click on your printer from the list, or Click the top-right icon and select "Manual Install"
4. Set "Queue Name", "Printer Model" and "IP/DNS"
Queue Name can be any short description, but no spaces are allowed
Printer Model should be Xerox WorkCentre 5855
IP/
DNS - type the IP address for your printer. If you don't know, refer to this chart:

5. Click "OK" and then Open the "Queue Preferences" for the new printer to set your Print Billing Code
7. Setup the "Xerox Standard Accounting" options
Change from “Accounting System: None” to “Xerox Standard Accounting”
Change from “Always Prompt” to “Do Not Prompt”
Enter your billing code that you received from Craig Stone as the “Default User ID”
Finally click “OK” on this window and Close any remaining windows.
8. You should now be able to print from any application
