====== Google Authenticator ====== This article assumes that a system administrator has already configured Google Authenticator for your use. The instructions below are limited to SSH connections to Ubuntu servers, future instructions may include other connection protocols. ===== Setup ===== - Download and install Google Authenticator to your smart phone. It is available via the [[https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.authenticator2&hl=en_US|Play]] and [[https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google-authenticator/id388497605|App]] stores - Contact SocIT to schedule a Zoom call with a technician in order to generate your QR Code: socit@uci.edu - Scan the QR code with your Google Authenticator app ===== Usage ===== - SSH to the server as per usual, type in your password when prompted - A "Verification Code" prompt should appear, type in the 6 digit code that is generated in your Google Authenticator app. - If you have multiple codes, note that the correct code should be labeled with the server and user - The codes expire every 30 seconds. If you notice the countdown circle to the right of the code near the end, wait until it refreshes before typing it in ===== Troubleshooting ===== If you have trouble logging in through SSH using Google Authenticator, please contact SocIT: socit@uci.edu
